17-Bit Studios punched us right in the heart when they said that Skulls of the Shogun would be a Windows 8 exclusive. The turn-based strategy game looked to mix deep tactical play with a joyous art style but its audience would be limited to gamers running Microsoft’s new OS.

That period of banishment is now over and Skulls of the Shogun: Bone-A-Fide Edition is available to buy on Steam. It’s still in beta but you can start playing today through Steam’s Early Access Programme.

The Bone-A-Fide edition comes with all the content of the original game, the multiplayer maps and the full singleplayer campaign, but it also comes with a new four-chapter campaign. There’s also a new unit, the Tanuki. Plus, six new multiplayer maps. 17-Bit have also gone and added a multiplayer progression system that adds experience points and ranks to level through.

The game’s still in beta but you can preorder a copy and gain early access through Steam. It’s also currently 20% off.
