Stop the press! PCGamesN parent company Network N is starting up a whole new website. It’s the company’s first launch since that historic bottle of champagne was smashed against PCGN’s fair hull in 1642. Gosh! It’s all rather exciting, and Network N is looking for a couple of extremely talented types to help shape and then helm the new brand. The roles will be based in our offices in Bath, so you’ll even get to hang out with us (for better or worse).
This new website will be focused on the stories that surround games and the people who play them – think streaming and streamers, esports and the folk who play them, celebrity gaming culture, and that type of thing. You’ll need to be knowledgeable, of course, and have a keen interest in all of these areas. And you’ll need to be tenacious, too, as you’ll be building a new brand from the ground up in a particularly competitive industry. We believe in you, though.
There are two positions you can go for: Editor and Staff Writer. The latter of these will be expected to create accurate and compelling new content to tight deadlines – with a focus on original reporting and covering exciting news as it breaks.
They will work closely with the Editor to plan and deliver a content strategy that’ll grow and retain an audience, and help establish the new website as the go-to place for gaming culture stories. You’ll need to be comfortable working on different types of content, of course, as well as conducting interviews, and you’ll hungrily seek out the most exciting new stories around. It’s an entry-level position, but you’ll need to show some examples of your work – even if it’s just from your own blog.
As for the Editor, Network N needs someone to shape the core of the new website and help it to flourish. You’ll lead a small in-house team – with access to a freelance budget – and will be responsible for content creation and planning, commissioning, managing, and everything else in the exciting business of website leadership.
As this role is a senior position, you’ll need to have experience working in a similar role for an online gaming or entertainment brand. You’ll need a good range of industry contacts, should be passionate about games and gaming culture, and have the drive to steer this new ship to sunny, traffic-rich climes.
If you want to take a look at the roles specifications on the Network N site, you’ll find the Editor ad here, and the Staff Writer ad here. But we’ve also handily posted the details below, because we’re awesome.
