Square Enix offers Easter surprise at eggcellent price

Easter has come very slightly early for Square Enix fans, as the publisher is offering a surprise bundle of goodies at hefty discount.

If you’re hoping to find a good sandbox game in there, Just Cause 3 is one of the best. Here are some others that aren’t hiding in mystery boxes though.

Up until March 21, if you visit the Square-Enix store you can grab a mystery box (not actually a box) full of five Steam games for just$9.99/£4.99/€6.49.

The games inside remain a mystery up until the end of the buying period, and therein lies the rub. Do you trust that Square-Enix will put their prime cuts into such a succulent offer? Or, conversely, do you not even believe they have five howlers in the back catalogue to make it a bad deal?

For comparison, and informed market decision-making, the last such box at Christmas hadThief, Final Fantasy 13, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, Life is Strange Episode 1, and Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn inside. They were also nice enough to chuck in discount codes for the other four episodes of Life is Strange, as well as Just Cause 3.

The gamble is yours to take. Maybe they’ve gone mad and stuck the new Hitman episode inside, or better yet,Kane& Lynch 2: Dog Days. You have until midnight PST on March 20 to decide if you’re a risk taker.
