BioWare have seemingly been chucking Dragon Age 3 player surveys around like confetti and, alas, some of them have ended up landing on the internet, revealing key details about the upcoming RPG’s plot, features and characters. Potentially. This is a survey, after all. When your doctor makes you fill out a form asking if you’re allergic to nuts, that doesn’t mean his surgery is filled to the ceiling with cashews.

A post on NeoGAF, spotted by Cinema Blend, would suggest that the survey reveals a world in chaos and an Orlesian Empire torn asunder by a violent civil war (attention BioWare: I am available to write the blurb on the back of the box). A translation of a German plot synopsis given in the surveywas also posted on the BioWare Social forum:

“A portal between the worlds unleashes hordes of demons in the land, civil wars rip apart nations and the corruption is limitless. Someone is behind the shadows, drawing the threads which destroy the world. Time has come for the Inquisition.

“Take the Inquisitor’s cloak and lead the only force able of bringing light into the darkness. Choose the direct method and gather your armies, send spies into the shadows or engage in a political war, make friends and use your connections indirectly: it is up to you how you lead the inquisition. But you’ll have to take lead of it from the beginning. Make your player a rogue, warrior or mage and set up your crew from up to ten complex companions to lead them against those who attack you by systematically spying on, revealing and destroying them.”

Assuming enough survey takers give it a thumbs up, players will take on the role of the Inquisitor in an attempt to figure out who’s behind all this trouble and strife. The leaked survey also makes reference to some potential new features: multiplayer/co-op, special finishing moves, player-controlled day/night cycles and four simultaneous companions. Here are the revealed companions:

Five potential subtitles for the Dragon Age sequel were also shown, most of which sound a bit mad:

  • Dragon Age 3: The Breach
  • Dragon Age 3:Exarch
  • Dragon Age 3:Inquisition
  • Dragon Age 3:Inquisitor
  • Dragon Age 3:Apocrypha

Not much else is known about Dragon Age 3 at this stage in development – I’m sure thatwith a few more of thesesurveys we’ll know the ending.
