LEGO Marvel’s Avengers assembles heroes from plastic bricks in E3 trailer

Lego Marvel's Avengers

Lego seem to have decided that 2015 is the year of the digital plastic brick. So far this year we’ve seen the likes of Lego Jurassic World, Minecraft-ish Lego Worlds, and Skylanders-ish Lego Dimensions. With all that, it’s been easy to forget that Traveller’s Tales announced a new Lego Marvel game way back when. Today we get reminded though with a new trailer for E3 hype.

Whereas the last Lego Marvel game was an original story that mish-mash unified all the Marvel film universes as well as the comics, Lego Marvel’s Avengers is based on the Avengers film. The trailer is entirely a recreation of the film’s Battle of New York, with iconic scenes of the Avengers fighting the Chitauri invasion peppered with TT Games’ trademark humour. Hulk taking a selfie after busting up a leviathan? Why not?

Like Lego Jurassic World, which is covering all four of the Jurassic Park films, the trailer also hints that Lego Marvel’s Avengers will also tell the story of Age of Ultron too. All we get is a brief glimpse at the genocidal robot’s face, but it’s a nice assurance that we won’t just be playing a game version of a three-year-old film.

Lego Marvel’s Avengers releases this winter. Look out for it at E3.
