Mass Effect is getting a “4D holographic experience” at California’s Great America amusement park

Great America are teaming up with EA to create a special, Mass Effect-themed attraction. It will feature settings and characters from Mass Effect and will open next season in a newly renovated action theater.

While it says it’s 4D, don’t expect to be off meeting Cthulhu or anything. Here ‘4D’ is likely referring to extra sensory things outside of your normal cinema experience: moving seats, aromas, stuff being squirted in your face, actual people shouting at you, smoke – that sort of thing.

“This exciting guest experience involves cutting edge technology customised for Great America and delivers 4D effects combined with a live performer and incredible special effects,” says the press release. “Great America guests will be taken on a thrilling adventure across the galaxy where they will travel through awe-inspiring landscapes, face off against bigger than life adversaries and ultimately help save the day.”

And there isn’t really any more to go off than that at the moment, but I don’t care because it’s Mass Effect and Mass Effect is a universe I’ll take any chance to dip back into. Now I just have to get PCGamesN to fly me out there to try it out.

Cheers, PCGamer.
