We’re just weeks away from the official release of Minecraft 1.6. Launching on 1 July, the update will bring horses into the voxel world we’ve come to love but a host of other additions too.
Unfortunately, it will also see the departure of everyone’s favourite brine, Herobrine.
While the biggest addition coming in 1.6 are the horsies, there are also a couple of other changes which will add a little more flavour to Minecraft. There are some new block types – coal, hardened clay, and stained clay – as well as updates to texture packs that now allow them to emit sounds and become animated.
Here are the full changes:
-
Added Horses
-
Added Donkeys, Mules
-
Added Horse Armor
-
Added Leads
-
Added Carpets
-
Added Hardened Clay, Stained Clay
-
Added Block of Coal
-
Added Name Tags (item)
-
Added Hay Bales
-
Texture packs are now “resource packs” that also can hold sound etc
-
Food meter is now drained when healed by full food meter
You’ll need to download a new client to install the patch and that can be found here.
