Minecraft coming to Xbox One; sees the game get closer to PC version

During this year’s E3 conference, Microsoft announced that Minecraft will be coming to their new console, as well as running on their old one.

With the architecture of the new console the game should be able to get much closer to the PC release than the 360 edition.

The Xbox 360 version of Minecraft is running a fair bit behind the PC release, as each update is translated to the console by an outsourced developer and has to go through approval before it can be released to the great unwashed masses.

The key difference between the 360 and Xbox One release is not the technology driving the machines but that Microsoft are allowing developers more freedom in publishing updates to the console. There are fewer checks in place. This should allow Minecraft to at least close the gap between console and PC releases a little.
