Jens of Mojang has just revealed a new block type coming to Minecraft that allows players to run commands on a redstone signal. Jens says that “with proper commands, many things can be scripted.” Examples include giving players enchantment points, or changing the difficulty of an adventure map.
The blocks can execute server commands. The blocks, says Jens, “are only placeable by admins, of course. It’s intended for adventure maps.”
Depending on the available commands, this could have a huge impact on what’s possible for players to create within a Minecraft server. It’s also a brilliant way to give young Minecraft players their first experience of programming.
