Mojang poke fun at Minecraft player’s offensive username

A little while back, Reddit user Jessemoforice was having a little problem logging into his Minecraft account. Rather than try and work out what the problem was, Jessemoforice simply made a new account to log in with, called ‘MojangSucksDick’.

It’s a username Jessemoforice has stuck with for a number of years. But last weekend they logged into the account to find that the username had changed. There’s clearly only one company behind the change.

MojangSuck

The name has been changed to ‘NoWeDont’. When the change was brought up on Reddit, Mojang’s own Marc Watson stepped forward to claim responsibility for the change.

“I was actually looking for [usernames with the words] %sucksdick, due to an unrelated report of harassment,” Watson said. “Usually we let servers handle all moderation but it was a parent and a kid, and well, I was just covering some bases. I never did find the username they reported (they couldn’t remember the exact spelling), but I did find this gem. Glad OP was a good sport about it.”

Mojang are in the habbit of changing offensive usernames rather than banning the player, so should you wish you throw a load of swears into your name you can expect to find yourself called FluffyBunnyMan by tomorrow morning. Good natured policing, there.

Cheers, Kotaku.
