As we know, Monster Hunter: World is getting delayed on PC. While consoles get to trap dragons and whatnot on January 26, we have to wait until autumn this year. The game’s producer Ryozo Tsujimoto has now explained why. In brief:

Speaking with GamesRadar (via PC Gamer), Tsujimoto says “this is our first PC title, and it’s something we want to make sure we get right. So rather than have it take up resources during console development and not being able to have our full attention on it, we want to get console out the door, and then we’re going to take some extra time and try and get the PC version as good as possible.
“There’s extra work you need for PC as well. On console you use first party matchmaking, you just kind of plug into it, whether it’s PSN or Xbox Live, but on PC we’re going to have to work more to get our own matchmaking working. So, hopefully, PC users won’t mind waiting a little bit longer for us to bring you a really great optimised PC experience.”
This is similar to what we heard from Bungie about polishing Destiny 2’s PC version, though they only took six or seven extra weeks, not months. Whatever else might be said about the game itself, Destiny 2 is a fantastic experience on our platform. If this is what Capcom think it’ll take to make a first-class PC version of Monster Hunter: World, then we’re ready to be patient. I’m sure we’ve all seen enough horrendous ports to welcome this recent trend of devs taking PC more seriously, even at the expense of a bit of a wait.
