Mortal Kombat 11 rewards are set to change following fan feedback

NetherRealm's latest fighting game has only been out for a day, but changes are already being made to reward systems

Mortal Kombat 11

Mortal Kombat 11 only launched yesterday, but developer NetherRealm Studios has already said it’ll be tweaking aspects of the game’s reward and monetisation systems. In a livestream yesterday, community manager Tyler Landsdown said that a handful of fixes would be rolling out “ASAP.”

Referring to reponses to the game made across social media, Landsdown said that “we’re continually optimising Mortal Kombat 11 based on player feedback,” and that the developers have noticed “that there have been some players who are struggling with progression of Towers of Time and with the Krypt.”

Character skins cost 500 of MK11’s in-game currency, Time Krystals. You can buy that many for $4.99 (£3.85), or earn them by playing the game, but it sounds like that second option is pretty time-consuming. A Reddit thread on the matter suggests that “completing the entire story will barely give you enough currency to clear one room in Krypt,” leaving little on offer for buying new characters or cosmetics, and that “clearing some of the latter towers without at least rare gear and a large number of single use consumables is near impossible.”

In response to some of that feedback, Lansdown says that “we do have a fix rolling out ASAP to address our players who are having those problems.” That fix is intended “to address our players who are having those problems, to address balance, and to address the rewards you get from playing [those modes].”

Landsdown doesn’t go into much detail regarding what those changes will look like, but makes it sound like they’ll be more about tweaking figures than major changes. What that means is that you shouldn’t expect the tweaks to arrive in a major patch, but to be gradually introduced into the game with minimal fanfare.
