MSI’s Optix G27C2 features a 27-inch 1080p panel, a 144Hz refresh rate, AMD FreeSync, and the ability to withstand a bullet. Yep, one gamer’s MSI gaming monitor was able to stop a stray bullet dead in its tracks and still function as originally intended. How’s that for quality assurance?
Some unknown party-goer spontaneously sent five bullets through Eric Gan’s house in the early hours of March 4, 2019. Thankfully no one residing in the house was harmed in the shooting, and, following similar reports from others nearby, police believe the incident was a random act rather than a targeted attack.
All but one of the five shots ended up lodged in the ceiling after making their way through the windows and walls of the building – one even penetrated a window and then a ceiling fan before eventually coming to a stop in the ceiling. But one bullet was stopped in its tracks much earlier than the others, it was found stuck in the back of Gan’s MSI Optix G27C2 gaming monitor, and, remarkably, the panel remains intact and still works.
Gan subsequently took to Twitter to report the event (via PCGamer), and gave a shout out to MSI USA for its hardy panel construction.

MSI soon responded to Gan offering a replacement monitor (despite the original monitor remaining in working order) and some MSI goodies for good measure.
