Netflix announces The Witcher’s release date, reveals first trailer

The Witcher will come to Netflix very soon.

Netflix's The Witcher

Netflix’s The Witcher series is one of the most highly anticipated entertainment properties around, and now we’ve learned when we’ll finally get to watch it. The show’s release date has been set for December 20.

In addition, Netflix has released the first proper Witcher trailer, which you can watch below. The video even includes a nod to the games’ notorious bathtub scene.

The show stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia. Cavill is perhaps best known for his roles in Man of Steel (2013) and Mission: Impossible – Fallout. His announcement as Geralt was met with surprise, but it’s certainly easier to imagine him in the role after watching the trailer.

Netflix’s show is technically based on the same books CD Projekt Red studied to make its games, rather than on the games themselves. However, it has clearly resulted in some similarities.
