Nordic Games want original Darksiders team to be involved in sequel

During THQ’s final hours, a little-known company called Nordic Games snapped up the rights to Darksiders, along with Red Faction and MX vs ATV, for $4.9million. Recently the company spoke to Joystiq about the situation, and how they really want to create a fantastic third Darksiders game, ideally with the original team.

Darksiders is comparatively big compared to the usual games the 15-man Austrian team usually put out, so the studio realise they need help making a worthy sequel. “”Darksiders is really big. We know we need a partner for that. An established development team that can pull out such a big action adventure. We obviously talked to former team members and, if they are free, we want to somehow involve them. If they are allowed to because, you know, some of them found other jobs or are with Crytek now,” explained Reinhard Pollice, the chap behind Nordic’s product development.

Pollice is a fan of the Darksiders series and wants to continue on from the story established in the first two games, presumably using a new horseman character after seeing games featuring War and Death. Pollice seems to see himself as gatekeeper of the franchise, with it being his duty to ensure nobody else ruins the game’s universe.

It will probably be a long road until the third entry in the series though, as Pollice remarked “I would not look for a Darksiders 3 before two years from now.”
