Plants vs Zombies 2: About Time trailer reveals you’ll be spooling up the Delorean in this sequel

Popcap have taken their sweet time about it but we’re within spitting distance of the release of Plants vs Zombies 2. Well, sort of. The first trailer for the game reveals a release date for mobile devices, keeping schtum on a PC release.

The trailer also shows off that the game’s now of a more temporal nature, what with you saving the world in the first game.

Nothing showing what the game will look like to play but the trailer did hint at a couple of new plants, while also paying lip service to a couple of our favourites: that dreadlock boomerang shrub is new, as is the boxing bush, and the ice puffer being kept in Crazy Dave’s fridge.

The big reveal of the trailer is that you’ll be travelling through time to battle with the undead in Plants vs Zombies 2. Presumably the rotting shamblers have gained access to time travel and are trying to ruin the world all through history. Hopefully this will mean a wider selection of zombie types, or at least attire for them to be kitted out in.

In the trailers Youtube description EA state that the game will be free-to-play and available on Apple devices from July 18th: “While the vast majority of the game will be entirely free to play (players can face every zombie and access every level in every world at no cost), Plants vs. Zombies 2 players will also be able to purchase upgrades and other in-game items.”

No word on when the game will be gracing the PC. Why? Because EA and Popcap are silly.
