Rock of Ages 2: Bigger & Boulder is almost beyond description. It combines physics-based destruction, art history, and tower defence into a surreal rock-racing tapestry. In other words, it’s a game about flinging a rock at things to cause as much chaos as possible.
With this sequel, developers ACE Team have focused a lot on the game’s multiplayer. It supports up to four players in 2v2 matches: one side laying down units in order to defend, while the other side gets to bowl their mean-faced rocks through it all.
But that’s not the only thing amped up in Rock of Ages 2, as the graphics are noticeably improved, carrying a distinctive, almost painterly art style. Plus, the Monty Pyton-esque humour of the original leans even more into absurdity, helped along by the animated vignettes, new historical time periods to destroy, and improved physics.
