Rocket League rockets up to 19 million players

Rocket League

Rocket League is quite the success story. Its launch as a freebie on PlayStation Plus saw it jump onto everyone’s radar, earning it a huge bump in interest across all platforms. Developers Psyonix have just announced that the game now has 19 million players worldwide.

There are more small studio gems in our list of the best indie games.

This news comes just as Psyonix announce that the Rocket League: Collector’s Edition-exclusive battle cars are now available to buy on their own, including the Tokyo-inspired Esper and Masamune, as seen above. These can be bought for $1.99 each.

It’s all part of Rocket League’s microtransaction strategy which, it turns out, will soon include a crate and key system for purchasable loot.
