ScummVM started many years ago as a program to get original LucasArts adventures up and running on modern machines, but since then it’s expanded in scope to bring back a host of the best classic PC games. A new update for the program has just launched, adding support for over a dozen new titles spread across a variety of engines.
The headline addition is Westwood’s Blade Runner, which has been notoriously difficult to get running properly on modern PCs. Now you’ve no longer got to deal with a lengthy list of fanmade patches and updates to enjoy the side story. Like the movie, the adventure is set in 2019, so this is really a perfect excuse to revisit it.
There are 15 other new titles now supported in this update, including Quest for Glory: Shadows of Darkness, as well as Might and Magic IV and V. There’s also a bunch of more obscure stuff, including a selection of Hoyle games, Hyperspace Delivery Boy, Mission Supernova, The Prince and the Coward, Versailles 1685, and Duckman: The Graphic Adventures of a Private Dick
This release also adds a host of bug fixes and improvements, including the addition of cloud saves through integration with services like Dropbox and Google Drive. You can get full details on all those updates through the official site.
