Shadow Warrior shows more decapitations than any other video released today

Corporate shogun Lo Wang likes to separate heads from necks. It’s kind of his thing. At least that’s what I take away from the new video of Flying Wild Hog’s Shadow Warrior.

It’s not just heads. Anything resembling an extremity can (and will) be separated from the enemies’ torsos.

The original Shadow Warrior released back in 1997. It was being developed by 3D Realms back then. It was essentially Duke Nukem set in a corporate near-future Japan where you fought mechs, demons, and men in suits. It had blood and boobs.

Devolver Digital bought the rights to Shadow Warrior from 3D Realms when it closed. They released the original game for free on Steam and got Hard Reset developer Flying Wild Hog to work on a reboot.

You still play Lo Wang, though this time you’re not fighting the Zilia Enterprise corporation but working with them to track down a legendary blade known as the Nobitsura Kage. In doing so you slice people in two, shoot people into a cloud of blood, and shout sexual insinuations at them, such as “Just the tip” as you poke a demon with your sword.

If you’re into your retro shooters then this could be just the game for you.

Shadow Warrior is out next month, 26 September.
