SOE’s Player Studio is Steam Workshop for MMOs; a system in which players will be able to create and sell their own items in both Everquests, and eventually in Free Realms and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes too.
The Player Studio provides sample geometry for in-game objects. Players can download samples for use in designing their own items, before submitting each to SOE with a short description.
Items that make it through approval will be sold on the new marketplace, with the creator getting a 40% cut of sales.
There’s more to come at SOE Live in October. Everquest’s community is dedicated and very much still there, but will it be large enough to make Player Studio worth the time of its amateur designers?
