All Solium Infernum characters – The best SI Archfiends ranked

The strategy game involves some important decisions, but the most crucial of all might be the best Solium Infernum Archfiend to play.

Erzsebet, one of the Solium Infernum Archfiends, stands tall after victory in a red and gold outfit.

Who are the best Solium Infernum Archfiends? Archfiends are the demonic characters as whom you can play in Solium Infernum, and each has their own pros and cons in taking control of the underworld. We’ve played with all eight legendary demons to give you low down on who is best at commanding Hell.

Solium Infernum is a challenging strategy game based on cunning, deceit, and twisted diplomacy. Essentially, your choice of Solium Infernum Archfiend will come down to how you want to play, as the character’s each have their own playstyle, powers, and strengths. However, this subjective tier list of all playable Solium Infernum demons might help give you an idea of who to pick. Our Solium Infernum review, meanwhile, might give you some additional opinions on Andromalius.

All Solium Infernum Archfiends tier list

There is a lot that goes into a game of Solium Infernum, and any one of the Archfiends below can rise up to lead Hell, depending on how the game plays out. There is also an element of RNG involved, though, given that you are restricted to the Legions, Praetors, and other Bazaar items available to you, as well as the Tributes you receive, so we’ve mostly formed this list on each Archfiend’s base stats – their starter Legion, their Stronghold, and their unique abilities. Other things that happen during a conquest could flip this entirely on its head.

Tier Archfiend
S Astaroth, Beelzebub
A Erzsebet, Andromalius, Mammon
B Belial, Murmur, Lilith

The horned Dark Lord Astaroth, one of the Solium Infernum Archfiends, his eyes and chest glowing red hot.

Best conqueror – Astaroth

  • Playstyle focus: Conqueror
  • Legion Stats
    • HP: 6
    • Ranged Attack: 3
    • Melee Attack: 9
    • Infernal Attack: 0
  •  Stronghold Stats
    • HP: 13
    • Ranged Attack: 5
    • Melee Attack: 8
    • Infernal Attack: 2
  • Dark Art: Draconic Razzia – A unique Diplomatic Declaration that puts Astaroth and his rival Archfiend into open hostilities for a single turn.

Astaroth’s pure and simple base stats put him as the leader of the pack. Like his own stature, Astaroth’s Legion stats are strong, and they can’t can’t be taken down easily. Now, you might look at that HP of six and think we’ve got this all wrong, but the first thing to know about combat in Solium Infernum is that there are three rounds: Ranged, Melee, Infernal, – ordinarily in that order. Hit points are then taken for the difference between the two. For example, in ranged combat against a legion with just one point of ranged attack, Astaroth would deal two damage, and take none. 3 – 1. That and his unbeatable melee attack of nine means no-one will scratch the surface of his legion’s HP in the early turns.

Use this to your advantage to make the most of those early rounds – you’re safe, so march through nearby cantons for Prestige without fear of combat. Take Places of Power if possible (though do be careful), and start gathering Tribute. Since your base Legion can hold its own, you don’t need to rush into buying low-level Legions, and can save your Tribute for stronger Praetors and Legions a little later on.

The blonde-haired Solium Infernum Archfiend Andromalius holds his hands out in anger.

Best diplomat – Andromalius

  • Playstyle focus: Duellist
  • Legion Stats
    • HP: 6
    • Ranged Attack: 1
    • Melee Attack: 4
    • Infernal Attack: 6
  • Stronghold Stats
    • HP: 12
    • Ranged Attack: 4
    • Melee Attack: 5
    • Infernal Attack: 6
  • Dark Art: Vanity’s Anointed – A unique Charisma Ritual that increases the duelling capabilities of a single Praetor favored by Andromalius.

While Andromalius isn’t technically second on our list, he is the best diplomat, so if you’re looking to concentrate more on deceit than combat, he could be the archfiend for you.

On the surface, Andromalius is one of the worst Archfiends – his base stats leave plenty to be desired, and, in face-to-face combat, his weak starter Legion is susceptible to most other Legions. The secret for dominating with Andromalius actually lies in his Dark Art, Vanity’s Anointed, and his duelling abilities.

Duelling refers to Praetor duels, which are one of two ways to settle a diplomatic dispute. The reason we can’t place Andromalius higher all-round is that the choice between a Vendetta or a Duel won’t always be up to you, and you may find Andromalius struggles in a Vendetta. That said, if the choice is up to you, which is the case if you threw the first punch, choose a Praetor duel, use your Dark Art if you need to, and you might even find the opposition simply has to forfeit. In the early turns, gather Tribute, buy one or two decent Praetors, and then start throwing insults and demands at your closest opponents.

Beelzebub, one of the Solium Infernum Archfiends, has wings and a fly's head, and her chest is open, bearing its own teeth.

Beelzebub

  • Playstyle focus: Conqueror
  • Legion Stats
    • HP: 8
    • Ranged Attack: 5
    • Melee Attack: 2
    • Infernal Attack: 2
  • Stronghold Stats
    • HP: 11
    • Ranged Attack: 7
    • Melee Attack: 3
    • Infernal Attack: 3
  • Dark Art: Hell’s Maw – A unique Wrath Ritual that converts the essence of Legions destroyed by Beezlebub into Tribute tokens.

Like Astaroth, Beelzebub is a conqueror, but her base strength lies in a Legion HP of eight and a more rounded combat approach. This still means that she can hold her own against other Legions, particularly in the ranged stage of combat, but she’s still not quite as resilient as Astaroth, so don’t be fooled by her higher HP. That said, if you are up against an opponent and you know you’re going to defeat them, make the most of Beelzebub’s Dark Art, convert that victory into Tribute, and use them to buy better Legions.

Someone has angered Erzsebet, one of the Solium Infernum Archfiends, as she points a dagger and bears her teeth.

Erzsebet

  • Playstyle focus: Conqueror
  • Legion Stats
    • HP: 7
    • Ranged Attack: 0
    • Melee Attack: 6
    • Infernal Attack: 5
  • Stronghold Stats
    • HP: 10
    • Ranged Attack: 3
    • Melee Attack: 7
    • Infernal Attack: 5
  • Dark Art: Lure of Excess
    • A unique Diplomatic Proposal that allows Erzsebet’s Legions to freely cross an opponent’s territory.

She might not be at the very top, but Erzsebet is one of our personal favorites, leading us to victory on multiple occasions. Interestingly, given what we’ve said above, Erzsebet actually appears fairly vulnerable, given that her starter Legion has no ranged attack. Since this is the first round of combat – in standard order – you’ll likely have to suck up a few lost HP, but with six and five in melee and infernal, respectively, you’ll hit your enemy back hard just when they think they’ve got you pegged.

To make Erzsebet even better, look out for Praetors with the Ranged Last effect, like Astarte, to alter the order of attack, and this vulnerability won’t be a problem.

Mammon, a Solium Infernum Archfiend covered in gilded accessories, holds a glowing golden torch.

Mammon

  • Playstyle focus: Manipulator
  • Legion Stats
    • HP: 8
    • Ranged Attack: 2
    • Melee Attack: 5
    • Infernal Attack: 3
  • Stronghold Stats
    • HP: 13
    • Ranged Attack: 5
    • Melee Attack: 6
    • Infernal Attack: 2
  • Dark Art: Chains of Avarice – A unique Diplomatic Proposal that siphons discarded Tribute from an opponent and into Mammon’s coffers.

Mammon’s stats are fairly rounded, but the fact that he doesn’t have any standout combat ability leaves him vulnerable to attack. That said, Mammon isn’t a conqueror, he’s a manipulator, and, as he makes clear with his gilded flesh, puts riches above all else. As such, you want to use his Dark Art, the Amulet of Opulence, and other Tribute Quality buffs to earn lots of Tribute – and fast. Turn this into powerful Praetors, strong Legions, powers, and artifacts, and you’ll have all the material goods required to make your enemies fall at your feet. And you might even be able to bribe the Conclave when the time comes.

Belial, one of the Solium Infernum Archfiends, plots, a book and quill in his hands.

Belial

  • Playstyle focus: Manipulator
  • Legion Stats
    • HP: 6
    • Ranged Attack: 6
    • Melee Attack: 1
    • Infernal Attack: 4
  • Stronghold Stats
    • HP: 12
    • Ranged Attack: 6
    • Melee Attack: 4
    • Infernal Attack: 4
  • Dark Art: Vile Calumny – A unique Diplomatic Insult that Belial pins on another Archfiend, allowing him to start a war between opponents.

Belial’s manipulation lies in tricking others and forcing them to fight with each other, hopefully leaving them to fall in his own wake. The trouble with this is that it is unpredictable, and gives Belial no direct control. To put things more in your favor, make sure you equip the right relic at the start of the match, such as the Power Behind the Throne, and use and betray others to rise up.

Murmur, one of the Solium Infernum Archfiends, tilts his head to the side, his helmet glowing red, and large, bat-like wings tucked in behind him.

Murmur

  • Playstyle focus: Sorcerer
  • Legion Stats
    • HP: 7
    • Ranged Attack: 0
    • Melee Attack: 3
    • Infernal Attack: 9
  • Stronghold Stats
    • HP: 13
    • Ranged Attack: 4
    • Melee Attack: 4
    • Infernal Attack: 8
  • Dark Art: Danse Macabre – A unique Destruction Ritual that raises a fragile Legion from the ash anywhere in Murmur’s territory.

The two sorcerer’s, Lilith and Murmur, and pretty similar when it comes to the basic stats, but we slightly prefer Murmur’s Dark Art if it comes to using either one. Meanwhile, Murmur’s Ritual proficiency lies in more destructive Rituals, giving more damaging rituals more chance of success against an opponent, taking them down from afar, rather then in direct combat.

One of the Solium Infernum Archfiends, Lilith, throws her arms out in digust, her large, feathered wings splayed out behind her.

Lilith

  • Playstyle focus: Sorcerer
  • Legion Stats
    • HP: 7
    • Ranged Attack: 4
    • Melee Attack: 0
    • Infernal Attack: 9
  • Stronghold Stats
    • HP: 10
    • Ranged Attack: 5
    • Melee Attack: 3
    • Infernal Attack: 7
  • Dark Art: Baleful Gaze – A unique Prophecy Ritual that reveals a target Legion’s secrets and makes it more vulnerable to Lilith’s sorcery.

Lilith is another sorcerer, meaning her power lies in her ability to carry out Rituals. As for her base stats and combat ability, she’s pretty average. That said, to make Lilith work for you, concentrate on unlocking the best Rituals through the Powers tab, which cost Tribute. From the start, Lilith is able to carry out two Rituals at a time, so you can weaken nearby threats, reveal enemy weaknesses, and even stop foes moving altogether. That said, her Ritual proficiency lies in getting information, which can be useful to see enemy weaknesses, but doesn’t actually make her any stronger against them. To actually get ahead, you’re better off using a more deceitful tactic – using another Archfiend to rise to the top.

As we’ve said, this Solium Infernum Archfiends tier list is mostly subjective, and you can certainly claim the throne with any of them, with the right gameplay, relics, and devilish schemes.
