For whatever reason, Sega has produced an officially licensed Sonic the Hedgehog curry. Styled after the original game’s Sega Mega Drive box art, the curry is a dark, inky blue. It’s designed to be paired with rice and… something brown, in order to form a culinary replication of everybody’s favourite hedgehog. There’s just one issue – the curry has the side effect of turning your poop bright blue.
In a video from Retro Core, which you can watch at the bottom of this article, the curry, which seems to only be available in Japan, does look pretty bad. To clarify once again, it is extremely blue. It’s a colour that no food should really be. I have to question why anyone thought this should be manufactured and sold to people.

That said, when it comes to making food look like Sonic, the host of the video did a pretty good job. It’s messy, but it does bear at least a partial resemblance to the high-speed hedgehog, which is impressive given that it’s made from ground beef, rice, seaweed, and blue goop. Apparently, it also tastes and smells reasonably good.
But that’s not why you’re here, is it? In the video’s description, the host states that “two days after eating it, my poop was blue for the whole day and then some!” Further down in the comments, the video’s host also says “two days later my poop was blue. Not only that but it turned the toilet water blue.”
“What’s scary is that stuff was inside my stomach for two days before it came out so is the inside of my stomach also blue? Even [worse] is that it took four trips to the toilet before the blue had gone.” The host’s tongue and teeth were also temporarily stained blue by the frankly astounding amount of food colouring that clearly went into the dish.
We’ve reached out to Sega for comment and will update this story if we hear back.
