Space Engineers’ video knows what its audience wants: big spaceships smashing into one another

Space Engineers copies sold Keen Software

Sure, a subsection of Space Engineers’ players will be interested in the effects of gravitational pull on large objects in deep space and the accurate representation of meteorites when distant from large planetary bodies but the majority are all about smashing spaceships into things and watching the debris fly.

Keen Software’s trailer speaks to that majority.

There’s something about a game that lets you lovingly craft spaceships and then encourages you to plow them into moonrock. Something admirable.

Space Engineers will be making its way onto Steam Early Access later this month on 23 October. It’ll cost you $15.

The release will “focus on core mechanics,” according to Keen. So expect building, physics simulation, and destruction.
