You’ll finally be able to play as General Grievous in Star Wars Battlefront II

Upcoming Star Wars Battlefront II update includes General Grievous, Obi-Wan and Geonosis map

EA has revealed the roadmap for the major Star Wars Battlefront II updates in the next few months – the Squad System, Geonosis as a new area, and the special additions of General Grievous and Obi-Wan as playable characters are particular highlights. Get your calendar ready.

Starting with September, there will be a new gameplay improvement called the Squad System that is “aimed to encourage team play,” it’s basically the same as the system in Battlefield. This allows you to spawn onto your teammates when you die in combat. This encourages you to stick near your teammates as when you die you will be able to spawn back in the same place and hopefully get revenge on the person who killed you.

Clone Wars fans will be happy to hear that alongside news of the release of the 91st Mobile Reconnaissance Corps and 104th Wolfpack Battalion. More great news for Clone Wars fans, October will mainly focus on the debut release of the lightsaber hoarder General Grievous, and is the first of the highly anticipated heroes that were announced at EA PLAY back in June.

Following Grievous is Obi-Wan Kenobi; the prize pony in November’s update. Accompanying him is the new Galactic Assault map, Geonosis, and EA has thrown in new vehicles to explore the fresh map with. Cruise along with the STAP which looks suspiciously like a Segway, zip around on the trooper BARC speeder, and finally, the heavily armoured metal beast AT-TE tank. How lovely. There will also be troop appearances from the 212th Attack Battalion clone soldiers.

After November, EA has grouped the updates as just “Winter,” so no settled dates yet but we’re expecting the release date for Count Dooku and Anakin Skywalker. More updates involve The Coruscant Guard and a new non-linear sandbox mode.

Cheekily, EA mentions at the bottom of the update that “things might move around, added, or changed,” but also says that there will be ongoing improvements for “matchmaking, daily challenges, map rotation, bug fixing and balancing.”
