Steam might allow game borrowing says latest beta update

borrowers

Those hawkeyes on Neogaf have spotted that the latest beta update on Steam suggests borrowing games may become a function. Either this, or the small people from a children’s fantasy novel by the English author Mary Norton have somehow hacked the system and are taking over.

If you set Steam to “Update to Steam Beta. Steam > Settings > Beta Participation” and go to “Steam/Public/steamui_english to verify”, the following text is visible:

“SteamUI_JoinDialog_SharedLicense_Title” “Shared game library”

“SteamUI_JoinDialog_SharedLicenseLocked_OwnerText” “Just so you know, your games are currently in use by %borrower%. Playing now will send %borrower% a notice that it’s time to quit.”

“SteamUI_JoinDialog_SharedLicenseLocked_BorrowerText” “This shared game is currently unavailable. Please try again later or buy this game for your own library.”

Looks like Steam is thinking to let us borrow and lend, though this function may never be implemented. We’ll see. Pretty cool huh? Tell us what you think of that idea in the comments.
