Steam offline mode’s getting fixed

In its eight years of life, the fact that Steam still doesn’t have a decent offline mode is a little ridiculous. Currently if you are taking your laptop on the move or your internet is cut because you spent all your bill-money on wine gums then you also lose access to your entire library, that is unless you tell Steam that you plan to take it offline. That’s a little unintuitive at best, and if you lose your internet spontaneously and therefore can’t tell Steam you’re going offline, you also lose access to your games.

But that may all be about to change.

An update to the Steam client released earlier todayreveals Valve’s attention may have fallen on the hapless feature: “Fixed broken offline mode if Steam process didn’t shutdown correctly”.

Amongall the recent developments going on at Valve, creating a stable, usable offline client might be becoming a priority.
