June’s Humble Bundle is perfect for wannabe galactic emperors

Stellaris victory conditions

Back for another month, June’s Humble Bundle is made for fans of strategy games and/or galactic domination. Containing games from Paradox, Stardock and various indie developers, this month’s bundle has enough to keep would-be rulers entertained.

Into conquest? Check out our list of the PC’s best 4X games.

If you’re looking to form your own space empire, Humble Bundle have you covered with both Stellaris and Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation. Stellaris is the slower-paced of the two, being a 4X game that has you building and ruling over your own interstellar civilization. Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation on the other hand, is focused solely on fast-paced RTS battles, similar to something like StarCraft. Both are critically acclaimed and should keep your skills in check for your eventual conquest of the Solar System. Do note that you only receive the base version of Stellaris as part of this month’s bundle, so you’ll have to purchase the recent Utopia expansion separately.

For those focused on global domination, Plague Inc. Evolved is the premier infectious disease simulator. Now including competitive multiplayer and co-op modes, this game is great for those looking to synthesise their own bio-weapon. As for those looking to build a financial empire, Shoppe Keep has players running their own general store within your typical high-fantasy world. Along with setting prices on potions, you’ll have to stop thieves from pilfering any of your stock.

It’s not all strategy in this bundle, as Humble have included some action and adventure games to vary things up. Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past two years, you probably know all about the time-manipulating FPS Superhot, while you probably haven’t heard of Brigador. Tasking players as a mercenary mech pilot, it is a fast-paced roguelite that sees you blasting through hordes of enemies as you try to escape the planet. Initially released in 2015, the Brigador you’ll receive in this bundle is the special Up-Armoured Edition, which features additional pilots, a new campaign, extra vehicles, and more.

The final two games in June’s Bundle are a bit more sedate in comparison. The absurd adventure game Maize has players dealing with the aftermath of a government experiment to create sentient corn, while Tiny Echo follows the adventures of a miniature garden spirit who works as the local postie.

If you subscribe now, you get a copy of Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin to keep as well. Unfortunately, you will not get the games from this month’s bundle if you subscribe now, you’ll have to wait for July’s bundle to receive you first batch of games.
