Paradox Interactive have announced their next DLC for Stellaris, the grand strategy space game where you try to take over the galaxy. Stellaris: Synthetic Dawn will add a whole new civilisation to the game, the Machine Empire. You’ll soon be able to play as the Borg, basically.

Robots have been in Stellaris since launch but only really as a slave labour workforce, a mechanical subclass. The Machine Empire is an entirely robotic civilisation that will, according to the press release, feature “Unique game features and event chains will allow the machines to expand as a robotic consciousness, and create an AI-led network that grows to galactic dominance.”
The teaser trailer doesn’t give away much about the synthetic citizens, but they do look more than a little threatening:
It also looks like the story pack will alter the synthetic races that are already in the game as the press release states that “Oppressed synths may rebel against their masters and form new empires – or you may even discover a fallen synthetic civilization deep in space.”
Paradox haven’t released any details about Synthetic Dawn’s price or release date.
