Surprise! Borderlands 2 is Game of the Year, sez boxed edition

Yes. I’ve August’s pop culture bingo sheet in front of me, and have just been able to cross out my third and final prediction, next to ‘Tiresome VMAs Shenanigans’ and ‘Curtailed Prime Minister’s Holiday’. Borderlands 2’s season pass finally wound down at the end of June with the release of Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep, and thus it must be that Gearbox declare their first-person action RPG Game of the Year.

The new edition was spotted on Steam’s database less than a week after Tina had her day, and is set for release on October 11. It goes like this:

  • Borderlands 2 Main Game
  • Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty
  • Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage
  • Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt
  • Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep
  • Creature Slaughter Dome
  • Premiere Club Content

Gaige, the Mechromancer Character Class

Gearbox Gun Pack

Golden Key

  • Vault Hunter’s Relic
  • Krieg, the Psycho Character Class
  • Collector’s Edition Heads and Skins
  • Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 1

By all accounts, the game has enjoyed a colourful and clever array of paid-for updates since launch, and this is the place to find it all giftwrapped for £29.99 – a tenner less than on consoles.

Don’t be deceived, though; tickle Borderlands 2’s tummy and plenty more planned DLC will fall out. The Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2 will bump up the game’s level cap to 72, among other things, and three Headhunter Packs will see the return of a zombified T.K. Baha in the coming months. This is not a comprehensive collection.
