The Sims 4: Realm of Magic returns mysticism to the series next month

We've finally got a Realm of Magic release date

Earlier this year, the developers behind The Sims 4 revealed that the next game pack would be called Realm of Magic, hinting at a throwback to the Makin’ Magic expansion for the original Sims. Now we’ve got a trailer, a release date, and a handful of gameplay details for Realm of Magic, and it will indeed let your Sims turn themselves into slightly off-brand Harry Potters.

The Sims 4: Realm of Magic will launch on September 10 for PC (consoles will follow a bit later in October) – game packs are typically priced at $19.99 / £17.99, so you should expect the same thing here. Realm of Magic will open up a secret portal to the titular mystical location, where your Sim can learn all the tricks of the magical trade.

You’ll be able to learn spells, of course, and some of the examples on the official site include conjuring food, forcing fights, and transforming Sims into varied objects. You’ll also be able to brew the types of elixirs you’d expect – love potions, curse antidotes, and waters of eternal life are all on the menu.

Familiars can join your Sim too, and options range from dragons to fairies. All that comes in addition to the array of sorcery-themed outfits you’d expect.

Check it out in action with the trailer above – which notably hints at a rideable broomstick, too.

It’s a bit surprising that the long-awaited follow-up to Makin’ Magic will launch as a smaller game pack rather than a full expansion pack, but it looks like there’ll still be plenty of content for your would-be wizards.
