Unbox reaches the top 10 on Steam Greenlight within its first four days

Unbox is a game about self-delivering parcels platforming their way across sunny holiday destinations. This seems to have resonated with people, because it’s managed to break into the top 10 on Steam Greenlight within its first four days.

Now I know what you’re thinking, a game where you play as a cardboard box doesn’t exactly sound like the most thrilling thing on Earth, but the trailer completely changed my mind. Have a look:

It seems like a lovely blend of platforming and physics-based fun. There’s a refreshing amount of colour on show for an Unreal-powered game, too. It makes you feel like it’s summer again. Plus, any game where you’re a cardboard box navigating across the top of a plane in flight is good with me. It also has multiplayer.

It’s like if 3D Mario was on PC and, you know, he was a box, or something. I can’t put my finger on it, but somehow it captures the essence of a good Nintendo game in that trailer. Obviously that’s just the vibe I got from a short video, so the actual thing could be completely different. It’s a brilliant trailer, though. Let’s hope the game can live up to it.

If you like the look of it, you can help get it greenlit on Steam Greenlight.
