Didn’t anyone tell you that you should venture in the Swedish woods – especially at night? Well, it’s too late now, as that’s where you are tasked with surviving in new survival-horror game Unforgiving – A Northern Hymn.
Swedish developers Angry Demon Studio have made the most of their home country’s rich folklore when making Unforgiving. All of the horrific tales that parents tell their children in order to keep them away from unsafe spaces like the woods come true inside the game. It’s not going to be a pleasant trip among the trees.
“The whispers of the northern woods pick at your sanity. Your fingers tremble as you light your final match, body shivering from dread,” reads the game’s description. “Do you sense them hunting for you? Can you feel them hunger for your last breath?”
Disturbed yet? You probably should be. Just stay away from the water’s edge and especially any dark shadows you happen across and maybe you will survive to see another day. It won’t be easy, though, especially as the gruesome entities that lurk in those places are driven by intelligent AI that lets them pick their own path as they hunt for you.
