Even if you don’t play any Warhammer 40,000 games, you’ll know what a Space Marine is. Now imagine one of those dressed in furs, swinging a massive axe. That’s a Space Wolf; the 41st Millenium’s answer to the Vikings, and the focus of a new turn-based collectible card game from HeroCraft.

The game splices the card game genre with tactical combat, using cards to assign attacks and equipment and 3D environments to move around in. The Space Wolves will be facing off against the age-old favourite Chaos Space Marines – this time the Word Bearers chapter – as well as creepy metallic menaces the Necrons. As with all card games you’ll be building a deck from a selection of hundreds of cards, and decks are built around different classes: Grey Hunter, Wolf Scout, Blood Claw or Wolf Guard.

“HeroCraft have presented us with a unique and exciting vision for a game based on this most evocative and barbaric chapter of Space Marines – the Space Wolves.” said Jon Gillard, Head of Licensing at Games Workshop. “Given that, their clear passion for the IP, and their experience in the market, we are only too happy to be working with them on this project.”

Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf will be a free-to-play game available on PC, as well as iOS and Android. It launches 2014.
