Warhammer: The End Times Vermintide

Last month, developers Fatshark unveiled their latest project - Warhammer: End Times Vermintide. It’s a co-op first person shooter, in which players must vanquish hordes of terrifying rat-men-folk, the Skaven. While there was only screenshots of the game since its reveal, Fatshark have seen fit to show off the game in action, via a sneaky peeky trailer.

Warning: many Skaven perish in the making.

The footage in-particular shows off the streets of Ubersriek, a scene from one of the earlier missions in the game. It’s so early in fact, that are would be heroes are actually trying to warn the city garrison of the impending Skaven invasion.

Also in the video, we can clearly see three distinct classes, with a fourth confirmed in the aforementioned initial reveal. First up is a two-handed hammer wielding warrior, favouring heavy swings to crush his opposition. Then there’s the Witchhunter, dual-wielding daggers, and also pistols. Finally, we have some sort of ranged bow user, who takes a fancy in peppering his rat-like enemies with sharp arrows.

Where do you get three distinct classes from? Look in the bottom right hand corner to see the character portrait of which character is being played. You have a Human (Empire) character - possible the Witch Hunter, but kinda looks more like a warrior priest wielding a revolver and a hammer, and then an assassin, elf-like creature wielding the two short swords and the bow.

Pre-Alpha - damn them marketing people, they clearly don't know what an alpha entails - that looked more like a late Beta to me.

It is almost like a "You can't criticize this because it is PRE-ALPHA and will remain BETA forever, so you will never be able to criticize it, hahah" sigh...
