Divinity Original Sin 2 art

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is a very exciting game full of all sorts of new ideas. We should know, because we’ve played it! We recently visited Larian Studios in Ghent, Belgium where we got to go hands-on for more than six hours with the latest build of the game, and we can’t wait to tell you all about it.

You’ll be able to read our impressions soon, but we want to make sure the feature answers as many questions as possible. That’s where you come in. Do you have a burning desire for new information? Curious about a certain gameplay element you’ve seen teased? Let us know your questions in the comments, and we’ll do our best to answer them, as well as tell you about the things you haven’t even dreamed of yet.

We’ll be back soon with as many answers as possible.

Quick summary from my twitter:

hen can we expect the alpha to come?

could you release a gameplay video, the longest possible?

any word on the modding capabilities?

how deep is the new RPG system?

Have new mechanics like cover been implemented?

I have been assured that I will be able to make multiple PCs in single player and play them against each other (basically multiplayer against myself). The latest preview video only shows one character in the New Game screen. How does it work, making multiple PCs?

Is there controller support (for local co-op)?

And is the local co-op identical to the first Original Sin, so there is a split screen?

One of my only complaints in D:OS was the lack of diversity between armor and weapon appearance.

Will there be more diverse weapon and armor appearance in D:OS2 ?

I'm interested in the game, sponsored it in Kickstarter last year. It would be nice to see a comparison between the original and the new, where the improvements have been made. If you had asked before you visited Larian Studios I would have also asked you to 1: Share an Easter Egg or two if they'd let you, and 2: Is a hidden VR item making a return?

The questing system is something I'd like to hear more about. D:OS was one of the few games in recent years that didn't try to hold your hand as you walked through its world. It made you pay attention to everything, find new ways to interact with the world and complete quests. It would be interesting to see how they updated these mechanics (if they did).

Last thing I can think of is the multiplayer. Firstly if it is LAN supporting or online only. Secondly if it is possible for a bot to claim control of 1 or more characters if you wish to truly role-play your main character. How is combat between friends going to work, both in conversation and in turn based battle? It would be interesting to hear the mechanics behind what happens when you fight each other and one of you dies. Does the dead player's body remain until revived, do they eventually respawn? Can anyone steal there items on death? Maybe if an NPC looter kills you they would take valuable items off of you.

Name three things from the original Original (ahem), that they're really happy to fix/remedy/sort out with the impending sequel. Maybe that the character visuals aren't so rigid when it comes to how they look. More variety, perhaps, etc.

For the battle system, is it set in the persistent world you are in or does it set up an instance? Like the final fantasy games where it goes into its own battle ground?

What are the penalties for re spawning?

I really like Larion. All the vids they put up make it look like a cool atmosphere to work in.

Can I be a cat? Can my four-player co-op party ALL be cats?

Just saw the DOS:2 update. Character Creation looks dope!!!

Questions for u guys how many origin stories are there cause i only saw three, while they all look interesting and can't wait to give each of the a go, i want to see if there will be more.

I heard there was going to be romance or something as well how does that work in the game. Can you only romance with ur party members or can you go for a range?

Also how does the combat feel, you played around six hours, and im guessing you fought quite a few things. Please answer and show a long video, i cant wait until the alpha and beta come out!!!

How does the Physical Armor and Magic Armor system feel? I worry that regenerating Armor would be like shields in halo or starcraft. It does not make much logical sense but many it was a gameplay choice?

Are there many interactive elements within the world beyond the conversational feature? Is there ever presented more than one way to solve a problem? Is there a day/night cycle? Are there NPC schedules?

What I'm asking, I guess, is whether it's more Ultima VII this time around. With the original one, that's pretty much what they promised is a gain in that vein. What they ended up with was more Baldur's Gate. Which is actually fine! I was just a little disappointed that the world didn't feel very alive or real, and it seemed there was too much of an obsession with the combat.

Ultima VII was almost the opposite of that. And I keep hoping to see that kind of game again. So, I guess... Is the end result of 2 more Baldur's Gate or Ultima VII? Since there's a whole lot of BG-ish stuff out there right now, but very, very sparse offerings that even come close to U7.

I would like to know how is weapon loot gonna work now, I really hated how rare were polearms and crossbows in the first one.
