Microsoft have signed a deal with cloud gaming service Agawi which should enable streaming of PC games to Windows 8 PCs and tablets. This will reportedly allow for users to have access to thousands of PC games – if they have a fast enough connection to support it.

According to the press release, “Popular AAA games will be made available in the coming months for instant play on Windows 8 devices with no additional work required by developers.”

Agawi’s announcementtouches upon Windows 8 on PC and x86 basedtablets – and the tech is based around Microsoft’s Azure platform. Walid Abu-Habu, Vice-President at Microsoft had this to say about the announcement: “Game developers want to focus on building great games, not worrying about back-end issues like scalability and platform management. With Windows Azure, Agawi 2.0 enables developers to make high-performance games easily accessible across devices with the high-quality graphics and virtually instant game downloads.”

Here’s a demo of what’s possible with Agawi. Meanwhile, Windows 8, eh?
