World of Warcraft subscriber numbers rise to over 10 million

Following the release of Mists of Pandaria, World of Warcraft’s subscriber numbers jumped to more than 10 million. Earlier this year we reported that World of Warcraft subscriber numbers had dipped by 1.1 million to a mere 9.1 million players worldwide, and even though we knew that Mists of Pandaria had done extremely well – selling 2.7 million copies in its first week alone – we couldn’t know whether it was only existing players who were buying copies.

These numbers are accurate as of 30 September. So it doesn’t cover subscriber pickupafter Pandaria’s release, only people coming to the game in the lead up to it.

These numbers are coming from the Activision Blizzard third quarter calender 2012 results conference call.
