Age of Mythology to get new expansion, Tale of the Dragon, 13 years after release

Is 13 years too long to wait to release new content for your game? Forgotten Empires and SkyBox Labs don’t think so, as they’re working on Tale of the Dragon, an Eastern-themed expansion for Age of Mythology over a decade after the original release.

Now I know this term is bandied around a lot, but the Age of Empires RTS games and their spin-offs are timeless. I’ll always remember the sound of the clang of steel on steel as my units attack an enemy. They’re classics in every sense of the word and a return to that will be fabulous.

The announcement is extremely light on details, but there will be a livestream on October 2 – with the exact time to be revealed at a later date.

This follows the release of Age of Mythology: Extended Edition, which released in May last year. The Extended Edition came with updated visuals, including global lighting, improved water, an improved rendering engine and day and night cycles.
