Since the weekend, Battlefield 3 players on PC have been beset by disconnection issues – and as far back as Sunday, DICE were working to fix them. Only this morning, however, has it become apparent that the outages are the result of malicious intent. Battlefield’s servers are currently struggling under a barrage of distributed denial-of-service attacks.

“The current Battlefield 3 outages are a result of activity that appears to be aimed at overwhelming our game servers,” wrote DICE on their forums. “We are working on a variety of solutions to address this problem and are focused on resolution as quickly as possible.

“We are incredibly disappointed by these activities and the impact they are having on all of our ability to enjoy BF3,” the developers added. “Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve these issues.”

DICE will provide more info as the situation develops on the official thread, and via the Battlefield Twitter account. Have you been struggling to retain your grip on the mane of Battlefield’s servers?
