Comet closes last UK stores tomorrow; everything 50% off

Comment

Tomorrow is the last day Comet will open its stores across the UK. Having entered administration last month the electronics retailer hasn't managed to find a buyer and must close its remaining 49 stores.

According to the Comet website everything will be "at least 50 per cent off" excluding TVs, laptops, and Apple products.

While a 50% off sale is happy news and one to take advantage of, we must not forget that with Comet's closure 6,600 people will be losing their jobs weeks ahead of one of the most expensive times of year.

Happily Comet will still be paying their staff holiday and back pay of £2.1 million to their staff.

Also, according to MCV, 1,000 Comet workers have been given temporary positions over Christmas at Dixons.
