Devil’s Third Online, the multiplayer portion of Nintendo’s new hack-n-slash, is coming to PC

Shaky-looking third-person action game Devil’s Third, previously thought to be a WiiU exclusive, will have its online matchmaking portion made available on PC as a free-to-play title. Exactly what the multiplayer portion of the game entails isn’t clear from the press release, but they are working with “local publishers” to distribute it globally. Here’s the full skinny:

“By prior agreement with Nintendo, Valhalla has developed the free-to-play PC exclusive online game ‘Devil’s Third Online.’ To spread ‘Devil’s Third’ around the world, this game service will run from September 2015 onwards, in various regions around the world following the release of the Wii U version in each region.”

The base game has been making console headlines recently for being, well, a bit of a devil’s turd. Poor graphics, boring gunplay, an awful plot – all have been getting both barrells from our esteemed cousins of the TV. Series creator and ex-Dead or Alive/Ninja Gaiden manTomonobu Itagaki hit back at critics by saying the game “reflects the player’s skill directly/vividly.” Presumably the low-quality textures are reflections of our ugly faces as well.

The September release falls shortly after the WiiU game goes live in western territories on August 28th. We’ll let you know how good it is/how good we are at it then.

Thanks, Eurogamer.
