Bring out your dead. Diablo 3's hardcore characters will no longer be able to resort to rollbacks should they find Death's cold icy grip upon their vulnerables.
With the release of the 1.0.7 patch tomorrow Blizzard are saying they will now longer allow Diablo 3's hardcore characters (characters which are supposed to have but one life) to be brought back to life by the game's administrators.
Reasons and Monty Python clips below.
According to Blizzard the reasons for this are twofold: "Hardcore characters were never intended to be revived or undeleted by an account rollback. Bringing Hardcore characters back to life via rollback really isn’t in the spirit of Hardcore." The function was only enabled because when Blizzard released rollbacks they didn't differentiate between character types.
The second reason is why the first reason was a blunder on Blizzards part. Surprising no one, Blizzard have "discovered that some players who’ve lost Hardcore characters through normal gameplay will fake an account compromise and request a rollback through Customer Support in order to get their characters revived."
As I said up top the 1.0.7 patch which will put an end to all the villainy will be released tomorrow in all regions.
