Mad Max will have an Australian accent. Change brought about by fan petition

Avalanche Studios brought a smile to many a face when they revealed they were working on an open-world game set in the Mad Max universe. The makers of Just Cause are the perfect fit for the series and there was much rejoicing in the PCGamesN chatroom.

It wasn’t all popping of champagne bottles and excited hugs, some fans were put off by the sound of an American-accented Max in the E3 teaser trailer. Following an online petition, Avalanche have decided to recast the voice actor, giving Max an appropriately Mel Gibson-like Australian accent.

This decision was brought about by a petition on Change.org. It had reached almost 3,000 signatures by the time Avalanche’s founder, Christofer Sundberg, took to Twitter.

Here that non-cannon voice at work in the E3 teaser:

Cheers, Eurogamer.
