An explosive ending to last night’s Overwatch Open grand finals saw European underdogs Misfits claim the $100,000 top prize over a faltering Team EnVyUs.

The final play of the series, clinching a 3-1 victory for Misfits, saw Terrence “SoOn” Tarlier as Tracer dropping a pulse bomb onto half the EnVyUs team caught in a black hole to prevent a contested point in overtime on Lijiang Tower.

Though EnVyUs is also comprised almost entirely of European players, with the exception of American DPS Ronnie “Talespin” DuPree, the two teams came through separate sides of the Atlantic divide to face off in the finals.

EnVyUs’ journey was relatively pain-free, being the dominant force in competitive Overwatch for many months now having at one point held a 57 series win-streak. The European side of the ladder, however, saw Misfits dropped to the lower bracket facing elimination before clawing their way back against the dominant EU side Rogue to earn their place in the finals.
