Team Fortress 2 Christmas Mann vs Machine event introduces Mecha-Engineer and new map

Comment

This might come as a surprise to you, but even in covering the ultra-pulp papier mache world of PC games we rarely have a chance to write ‘Mecha-’ as a prefix. And so it brings me great pleasure to announce that Valve are taking advantage of their Christmas mecha-update to introduce the mecha-engineer. Mecha mecha mecha.

There’s something coming, and it’s new MvM map Big Rock. It’s the largest yet, giving players more time to disassemble the oncoming robot horde. However, the mecha-engineer will soon put paid to any ideas you might have about pace-slowing.

Say Valve: “These Grinch-like Smissmas cakewalk destroyers can skip huge areas of the path with their teleporting ability, and also teleport other robots forward instantly with their ‘telling other robots about the teleporter’ ability.”

Smissmass will also see the return of last year’s Naughty and Nice crates. Naughty crates will contain limited edition festive weapons, while their Nice variants will offer community winter-themed items. They’ll be available from the Mann Co. Store once the update’s out, until January 3rd.

There’s an excellent new comic, too: Shadow Boxers.

“*BEEPBOOP* THE HUMANS WERE WAITING FOR US AT THE LAST FIVE ATTACK SITES, MASTER. SOMEHOW THEY KNEW.

Valve sure know how to mecha holiday go down smoothly, don’t they?
