How many eggs are there to find in Animal Well? Within this surreal, labyrinthine adventure, the sole developer has hidden 64 eggs that you must find to get the ‘true’ ending. You’ll likely pass by a dozen of them without even realizing they’re there, and making things even more devious, plenty of them require late-game items that come after you see the credits roll for the first time.
Do you have more questions about Animal Well? We wouldn’t blame you if you did. You should take a peek at our Animal Well candles explained guide before you spend too much time seeking out matches, and if you’re truly stumped about some kittens trapped in cages, we’ve gone ahead and explained how to rescue Animal Well cats.
All Animal Well egg rewards
You’ll stumble upon a shrine where your found eggs will reside as you explore the surreal and slightly frightening well. Here, on the left hand side, you’ll see a series of doors with an egg symbol on them along with several dots. These dots denote how many eggs you’ll need to find before the door will open: 8, 16, 32, and 64 (yes, really!).
The rewards for these are as follows:
- 8 eggs: Animal Flute, which is used for various puzzles/fast travel.
- 16 eggs: Pencil, which allows you to draw on the map.
- 32 eggs: Spinning Top, which is used for various puzzles.
- 64 eggs: An item used in a special room to trigger the ‘true’ ending.
All Animal Well egg locations
To make things more legible in this esoteric Metroidvania-inspired game, we’ve gone ahead and split the map into animal-themed quadrants that match the ‘boss’ animals of that region plus a miscellaneous section:
- Miscellaneous includes areas that do not fit into a quadrant.
- Northwest is the dog area. Be prepared to play fetch.
- Northeast is the lizard area, which also features many chinchillas.
- Southeast is the ostrich area, which has many floating rabbit heads.
- Southwest is the seahorse area. As you’d expect, it’s filled with fish.
Furthermore, the location of the eggs corresponds to their placement in the shrine vertically. If you’re missing an egg in the top row, it’s found somewhere high up on the map. You can click the images in our table to enlarge them for a hint.
