Victorian-era city-building arrives in Anno 1800, announced via Twitter photo

Anno 1800

Some companies use YouTube, others use livestreams, Ubisoft have let industry website MCV announce their next game via Twitter. Anno 1800 is in development and on the show floor at Gamescom 2017. It was followed up rather hastily by an official trailer, which you can see above.

For upcoming PC games that were announced in all sorts of ways, check our dedicated article.

Here’s the tweet in all its glory:

It’s probably got ships in it. Beyond that, we can assume the same city-sim goodness returns from the 1602, 1503, 1701, 1404, 2070, and 2205 editions. Like many series, they’re going back to the past after a jaunt into the future, with a Victorian flavour this time.

It’s a year away yet, with a winter 2018 release date given at the end of the trailer. Expect a drip-feed of fancy dresses, proper English accents, and chimney sweeps between now and then. Expect more details from the show floor soon.
