Fantasy battle royale Ashes of Creation Apocalypse hits Steam Early Access next week

The MMORPG prequel battle royale is making a fresh start

Ashes of Creation Apocalypse has been in various stages of alpha over the past year, as developer Intrepid Studios works out the combat flow and technical details of its upcoming MMORPG with a fantasy battle royale. Now Apocalypse is properly launching into Steam Early Access, and it will be free-to-play even in its early state.

Early access for Ashes of Creation Apocalypse starts on September 24 both through Steam and a direct client download from the official site. The game will offer solos, duos, and squads across North American, European, and Southeast Pacific servers – and those servers will now be available in perpetuity.

The fantasy theme gives Apocalypse some unique gameplay options compared with other titles in the genre, including gryphons to get around the map, magic to blow up buildings, and a variety of weapons and armour to make sure you’re fighting at your best, as well as different fighting styles to add some variety to the combat.

If you haven’t been keeping up, Apocalypse is a prequel to the proper MMORPG, Ashes of Creation, which is still coming sometime in the future. Apocalypse will give a taste of the combat through battle royale, and will eventually get additional modes like castle siege and horde.

Apocalypse will have cosmetic microtransactions, and the developers promise “there is no P2W in Apocalypse or the MMORPG!”
