Ashes of Creation: Apocalypse brings us fantasy battle royale later this month

Ashes of Creation: Apocalypse finally gets a release date

Ashes of Creation: Apocalypse now has a release date, and it’s coming very soon. The game will launch later this month for free, offering up a 100-player fantasy take on battle royale. Apocalypse that will serve as a the first playable look at what Intrepid Studios and publisher My.com is cooking up with its Ashes of Creation MMORPG.

You’ll be able to play Ashes of Creation: Apocalypse for free on Windows PCs beginning December 18. The developers say in a press release that Apocalypse “builds upon and refines many of the core systems at the heart of Ashes of Creation while letting players experience its stunning action and visuals right away.”

The game will launch with the battle royale-standard last-person-standing match which will let you battle with traditional weapons and magic, but more modes are coming. Those include a team-based castle siege option, and co-op horde mode missions where you’ll do battle in small groups against demonic monsters. The three modes will all be free, and though this announcement doesn’t go into too much detail on monetisation, there will be options to purchase cosmetic items.

This is – again – a separate release that stands alone from the Ashes of Creation MMO, though it does share many similar basic gameplay elements and is set in the same world. All cosmetic items you pick up in Apocalypse – whether bought or earned in-game – will automatically transfer to your MMO account if you keep playing when it launches.
